serious sa wiring issues

ok all my fuses are good but my dash lights wont come on, i tried bypassing the dimmer and the wires just spark and get hot so i figure i have a short somewhere. tried replacing the combo switch but that didnt help. my hatch pop button wont work either along with a couple other things. im replacing the dash soon so i will have it all tore apart, if the temp ever get below ******* 90*, kansas weather is ****. i guess ill look for rubbed through wires but any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Look under the shift boot area, there are two wires the appear to hook together, but they are not supposed to do so. They are actually for the shift selector light in an auto.
As for the hatch button, most SA's I have seen, the hatch release motor usually messes up, and gets removed. Not saying they all do, just all the ones I have messed with......

my sa was a base model and didnt have the release button or motor, i have since gotten the 2 pieces and all the wiring apears to be there, it just wont work!
i assume it is connected to my overall wiring problem.
oh yea, the temp gauge wont work either, i ve tried different senders and it apperars to be in the under dash wiring.

Try to bench test the servo.
Mine was not working due to the grease hardened by age and heat so it bound up.
I dismantled it , cleaned out all the old hardened grease and gave it a light coat of white spray-on lithium grease.
Good as new!!
Good luck.
