serioius oil cooler problem...
i went to pull the oil cooler off today and change the o-rings. i have the beehive. OMFG!!!!! i can not get to the 22 or 23 mm nut (whatever size). it's impossible!!!!! so i put the coolant hoses back on and redid the other 3 nuts. i finish my oil change and crank it up, look in the motor, AND GOD DAMNIT!!!!!!!! oil is SPEWING from the bottom of the oil cooler!!!!! what did i do????? how can i fix this crap. i gotta make a road trip today. do the o-rings just come off when you lift it at all? i thought there was another strip yo uhad to take off to get to the orings. please help!

ok, never you mind. i think i fixed it up again. god i am quick to panic. but i still havent gotten the new orings in. someone tell me how i can get that huge nut off! thanks!

seriously, I don't think you need to take the hard line out to replace those o-rings. Good luck, that job is a PITA for sure.

you DO NOT need to take the line off!!! there are like 3 10mm nuts under the cooler that you take off. there are two kinds of o-rings to the cooler. flat plastic and actual rubber o-rings. some service manuals sugguest that you do not split the oil cooler off of its base. those o-rings need to be replaced as well sometimes.

ok guys, WOOOOOO!!! i got it today. i ended up taking that hardline off. cleaned it up a bit and put the new o-rings in. fired it up and NO LEAK!!!! WOOOOO!!!!!!!! my car seems to run smoother and even cooler too!
