series3 dash go into a series1?

My dash isn't in great shape, so i thought i might upgrade it with a newer dash instead of getting the same one.
Can i put a series 3 dash in a series 1? are there any problems?

change the entire dash structure, the major thing i see is the wiring difference... I put a series 2 in a series 1 but that was easy... dunno on this one im sure it has been done

Exclamation I'll bet $5......

it will bolt right in. The interesting part will be integrating the parts that complment it.... the Heater/AC Logicon......, the plumbing for dash vents......, etc.

directfreak did it a long time ago

I dont see it being too bad as long as you change everything, like i said before the major thing will be the wiring difference the sub harness and all the cluster wiring is totally different

i've seen a few in junk yards, i think you are going to need everything (the wiring, heater, ac blower etc) but it should bolt right in

Guys he is talking about the aussie 1st gens. The dash is exatly the same in s1,2,3 here in aus. the gauge cluster for s1 is the same as the US 79-80 models s2 and 3 are the US 81-83 type

This is the inside of my Aussie series 3.

And this is the dash in my old series 2.

For export righthand drive series 3 [Aus, NZ. UK }, there was no diffeence in the dash compared with a series 2.
Replacing a series 1 with a series 3 rhd is relatively simple, primarily minor rewiring.

There just pre made pods i got from the local parts & accesoories store here....

I normally make my own but i got lazy.
there not hard to make yourself, but these have the trimming vacumm molded.

Theres a book called "high performance car stereo", I think its by SA books??? its from the states so you gyus should have no worries finding it....
Its a bit old ( as in old theory's) but it is a great book and will tell you how to make your own pods and boxes the correct and easy way.
