selling my seven

this hurts more than ever to post this....but i have to sell my seven...i need something that runs..im almost 19 here and still have no way of getting around and relying on others is gettin old. nobody ever wants to help me put the car into running order and the ones that do always ditch me at the last minute..im tired of it and i cant keep my car there forever. so. im in indiana and you have to come get the car ...you can have the new engine and all the supplies (oil, tranny fluid ext) the old engine is still in it with the radiator and air conditioner removed.....

this is teh hardest thing ive ever had to do...but i need money and this car is obviously not going anywhere.. maybe one day i can have another seven that runs..but god im gonna just cry almost.....thats how much i love this car...and i have to let it go....somebody make this quick and painless

damn that sucks,

well i will tell you i have had 5 rx7's and none of them "just run"

you always have to do a ton of work to them to get them ruinning good and them keep puring in tons of cash to keep them running,

yeah its a bitch but we do it for the love.

look at jeremy and myself,
were busting our asses just to get our cars working right.

my rear end blew out on the way down.

just put the new one in and it didnt even work,

turns out it was the drive shaft,

put in a new drive shaft and noticed one of the tranny bolts is stripped,

probably what caused the drive shaft u joints to break,

you see what im saying,
it goes round and round,

back home i have my girlfriend to tote me around and i have another rx7,

but down here im screwed,

my best sugestion is to save up and just buy another car.

i would get a 2nd gen,

i found they are much much more reliable because everything is not extremely old and rusted out.

i bought one of my 2nd gens for a mear $125.00
it needed a computer $100.00

so $225.00 for a perfect runnign car.

i bought the first gen i ahve now for $200.00

and it has never let me down as far as running goes,

but i always throw a ton of money in it
and usally baby the hell out of it

just shop around,
buy a civic if you have to,
no one hear will laugh if its just your daily driver and you have the rex being worked on.,

my little brother picked up a civic wagon for $250.00 and the thing is unbreakable,

it has 235,000 miles on it and just keeps going,

well im trying to talk you out of it,

i hope i will ahev some sort of positive effect on the situation,

the only time i have actually broke down and sold my sevens is when i know they are unrepairble by my hands.

you have everything you need.

except fopr some helping hands,

it only takes two people to lift out the engine and put a new one in,

jeremy and myself just did it with a 13b,

im 5'11 @ 135 lbs

and jeremy is

5'8 @ 125 lbs

so two skinny people will work

i'm built too, hahaha. the reason i asked location is that maybe someone in the vincinity could give you a hand. i'm coming to lawrenceville for the autox this sunday. if you could have it unbolted mostly then it would just take someone to stop by a day and throw the new engine in for you. time and patience my dear. i just sorted out my fuel delivery problem...theoretically.......and then tossed my loose battery on a launch possibly hurting the dizzy and the alternator. i keep saying i'm going to sell it as i have no $$$$$$$$$$ and it keeps wanting $$$$$$$$. hell just tote it down here and kick up with v8 and i. we'll get it sorted and running. then we'll have 4 7's in the drive. kind of like the rx7 hangout house.

Where are you in relation to Louisville? If I remember right, you organized the RX7Club turnout for the AIM meet in Indy back in March. I have several friends who are knowledgable and would be willing to come up and lend you a hand as well as myself. I have come close to giving up on my 7's on several occasions, but in the end, I always find my way back. Let us try and help you. I WILL NOT BLOW YOU OFF.

Let's get your car running right so you can enjoy it

How about selling to someone who can fix it up, and buy it back from them at a very modest price when it's all fixed up?? that might be a little dangerous, but it'd be better than no chance of getting it back....

Im putting a new engine in myself here soon too . I almost gave up on mine a number of times, and Im still and thinking about it sometimes (lets not talk about that), but everytime I remember why I love the car. I always manage to talk myself out of giving up. If I wasnt pouring all my money into my engine, I would be buying a plane ticket out there to help you. Hey, any girl that drives a 7 is worth it to me . I could visit family while I was out there too . Anyway, all Im saying is just think about what you are going to do VERY well, and make sure its what you want to do . Godd luck, and remember we will always be here to help online .

keep your 7, do you have somewhere to park it, and do a little work on it at a time, lots of people here have talked about finding a civic or corolla or 323 mazda for under 500 bucks,, and all those little cars will go for 2-3 hundred k miles, and are damn dependable. keep your 7 and pick up a second car to use, the 7 will come alive.

I like Donnas idea. The seven is an awsome vehicle...definitive of "sports car". But it does take money to ressurect one. Once that money is spent intially, it usually just takes proper maintainance. But to have a project car as your daily driver is just too much; and any seven that is'nt all together is a "project"!
Look harder into alternatives such as where you can store it, ect. Take proper precautions when storing it to keep deterioration (rust) to a minimum, ect.
You won't get what you should for it and you'll regret selling it.
Even if you could convince yourself that it's for the best, you'll regret it later, so exhaust every possible option first!

Organized a get together, and noone got your car up and running for you?
Gueeze.

Unhappy

I also suggest you find a place to stow the 7 and grab a Honda. It's what I did.

I hope my 7 is still allright.. I haven't been by to check on her for a while due to work...

Get an old *** hatchback or wagon and it makes for a great parts runner as well as a towing vehicle should you need it.

If you lived closer, I'd help you out; If I had my own house, I'd let you store it in the back yard... Sorry I can't do any better.

C'mon guys, someone give her a hand or a used econobox to drive around in...

If I had to rely on my 7 for primary transportation I'd probably sell it too! My 7 is my toy and I'm fortunate to have two other cars as back up. The one thing that I really like about the 7 is that it needs work. I find that enjoyable! My advise, and apparently others too, is the keep the 7 and buy a cheap high milage Honda as backup, you'll enjoy your 7 sooo much more. Best of luck!

If you got both motors side by side, and got the gasket set for change over. It should take 8 hours at MOST. If youve never done it before maybe 2 days of 8 hours each day... But a engine swap really isnt that hard
