Security devices, when using turbo timers on a 5-speed?

I am thinking of adding a turbo timer to my SA. However I am concerned with security & safety while the turbo timer is in use. My car is all manual, 5-speed, windows and locks. I was told by car audio store that they can not legally install a car alarm that has a built in turbo timer if I do not have an automatic transmision, power windows and door locks.

So in my case for the turbo timer to activate I would have to have the car in neutral and the e-brake on. Other than adding an alarm that works with a turbo timer so that it will turn off the engine if the alarm is triggered what else can I do?

I found a e-brake combination lock (click the link below). Anyone use one of these before?

I guess I am more conserned with safety than anything else if the car gets knocked into gear while running it would be a problem. Anyone know of a neutral saftey switch for manual transmissions?

1st question, is your sa turbocharged?

and how would the car get knocked into gear if you arent in it and the door is locked etc...
and one other thing
what does power windows and locks have to do with a turbo timer?

It will soon. I just purchased a 12AT JDM.

Ok, I need to make a correction to my statement. The car audio place said that they could only add an alarm with a built in turbo timer to a manual transmission car if the car had power windows and door locks. They said that when you enable the turbo timer the alarm would close the windows and lock the doors automaticly once you have left the car.

Since my car doesn't have power windows and door locks I was looking for extra secuirty devices. I was thinking of installing a fuel cut off switch but that wouldn't work with a turbo timer. Also I may add the power locks when I get an alarm. I'm still compiling the wish list.

I think the audio place is thinking of a car with a central locking system.

First , a turbo timer is a good feature for the 12A T as the turbo is oil cooled and lubrication suffers at engine switch off'

Second, there is a major problem on an incline if the hand brake decides to fail, its really critical to have it working perfectly if the car is left out of gear.

Third, there is a major problem of security, its only a 20 second job to hot wire the turbo timer.

If you are driving slowly to park the turbo timer is unnecessary as the turbo will have spooled down. So generally its not totally necessary.

I have a 12A T efi with a turbo timer, and my solution is to have an ignition cut-off switch, turn off the timer if parking on an incline, do not fit an alarm system but have the sticker on the windows. For full security you can fit two cut off switches, one hidden, one using a spare switch location.

Congratulations on going 12A T, its a bit more expensive than the 13B T but more in keeping with the Gen 1 theme. I really enjoy driving mine.

Sweet looking engine!

IMO, I think you should just a regular alarm and a seperate turbo timer, that way you can just use it when you want, and it wont matter what the state of the alarm is or whatever. I think it would be easier.
