I wonder if it has to do with the fact that when the tetter-totter pops out and sits below the spot where its supposed to sit. When you press the pedal, the top of the T is now pushing against something hard, namely the underside of the U, thereby blocking full pedal movement, preventing WOT and possible preventing the secondaries from opening.

When I re-attached my tetter-totter, I got full pedal travel and could then achive WOT -- which of course made the car faster. In addition, the pedal felt lighter (assisting the "quick" feeling) due the the that spring taking some tension off the main return spring -- I think.

To the best of my knowledge, my carb has never been rebuilt. Damn thing runs great, just secondaries not opening. Sterling thought my problem may be fuel starvation. I put a "black" pump on it and set the reg at 4psi and no difference. The pump was so loud I couldn"t stand it,So I bought a new stock replacement. Any idea what you did different in the rebuild? There's got to be something different if it works now. Thanks

i ensured that the vacuum passage was perfectly clear on the lower portion of the carb and the same for the main body. i think i had a clogged secondary vacuum passage or air bleed on the old carb. i really took my time with this rebuild and removed each air bleed individually and made sure each one was perfectly clean. i tested the vacuum diaphram for the secondaries and ensured each gasket was perfectly placed.
