Question secondaries arent opening in my holley

When revving my engine i dont see the secondary butterflies moving at all. I even had my dad watch them as I sat inside and revved it up to 8000rpm and it was the same. What should i do or check for? Any advice would be great. Thanks

uh, they won't open when not under load. Go out, short shift into second, floor it. Vaccum secondaries kindof feel like this: going, going, hit around 5000, really going. You can feel them open and a very noticable surge in power. I put the quick change secondary kit from holley and use the lightest spring, so mine open around 4000, but even stock they opened about 5000. If it never has a surge, they ain't working.

Well this isn't exactly true. You may feel a surge when they open... or here the tone of the engine change. But you realy shoulden't feel the surge if it is dialed in correctly. The reason you feel a surge is because the engine is being held back because of something before the surge. The secondaries should come on smooth when you need them...the whole idea behind vacume secondaries is that they come on when you need them and arn't always on at a specific throtel position.

To test them what I do is. Run the car like it is and see what it feels like. Then do the screw trick and force the secondaries to come on and see if it feels any better. If it doesn't pull any better above 4-5K rpm when it is forced to open I assume it is doing its job.
