Secnd gen vaccum on oil inj?

Hello,
I have but a second gen engine into my FB. I am using a GSL-SE front cover and the bottem half of the intake manifold. The stock oil injection setup on the second gen runs a vaccum line to the oil injectors as well.

What does this do?
Will the oil injection system still work without it?
Thanks

The GSL-SE doesn't have that? Weird.

What do you mean equalizes the pressure, how? Can you tell me more?

The vaccum ports are to open or close the oil injectors when the engine is stopped or running.

To keep the injectors from dripping and draining the OMP tubes when the engine is off,the nozzles will close once engine vacuum is gone. When the engine starts back up,the manifold vacuum pulls the nozzle back open, and oil flows into the injector.

Think of a straw held in a glass of water. If you dunk the straw, then hold your finger over the end,the water will remain in the straw. When you lift your finger off the end,the water drains out.....same principal.

The carbed engines didnt need this feature since their oil injection was horizontal into the carb. The EFI engines had nearly vertical oil injectors, which are more conducive to dripping.

Steve,
thank you very much, that is what I was looking for. Now, do the oil injecters still work when engine is running, without vaccum?

Dont know,Id ask the 2nd gen crowd to be sure.
All you have to do is hook up some vacuum lines from near the throttle,to the oil injector nipples. The stock setup uses a single large hose with a small manifold which feeds all 4 individual injector hoses. Its not like youll be adding a big mess or vacuum lines. If your gonna rely on the factory oil injection to keep the engine alive, why risk altering it?Its deisigned a certain way, for a reason.....

Good point!
I rely onthe factory system for most driving. When I autocross or go to a track day I pre-mix as well.

Yes, otherwise the TII motors would be short lived under boost. The lines balance the pressure on both sides of the injector so the mop can feed oil into the engine.
