Searched for couple of hours...GSL-SE radio in GS?

Hi everyone, I have an 84 GS and I was wondering if it was possible to hook up a stock GSL-SE radio (the one with the electronic tuning and equalizer) into my GS? If so how? I noticed the only difference really is the back up battery connection on the GSL-SE radio that my GS stock radio doesn't have. Thanks!

Yeah, interior bits and pieces are interchangeable. If you had a '79 - '83 it would take some modifying and what have you, but because the SE was made from the same year your car was, it should just fit.

I've hooked everything up. But the only thing I haven't connected is the back up batter plug because I don't have one from the stock GS radio. I can switch it on and off and you can hear the antenae going up and down. However there's no sound coming out nor is there a display of the radio frequency. A fuse maybe? Where the fuses located on these radios?

It needs the 2 amplifiers in the storage bins to work. I dont know if the GS car will have the wiring for everything, but it will also need the fader/balance joystick on the console behind the shifter. I think it should work without the tape player and EQ though, but im not sure on that part.

So I need the radio to run through the fader joystick in order for the current to reach the amps?

Correct...I did this in my project car this summer. You do need to run it through the joystick in order to use the existing wiring. I wish I had taken pictures of mine, but it is pretty much plug and play.

I'm a little confused as to what you mean by bypass that's already in there. Where is this bypass and how exactly do I bypass the radio without having to get the joystick?

Ok, so when I find this bypass, what do I do in order to bypass the system so I can use the GSL-SE radio without the fader joystick?
