SE Offset: how LOW can you go?

More complexity for fitting my SE with 15x7 wheels. It seems that 40mm is the max offset which can be used, else a risk of hitting the front struts.

My question is... What is the LOWEST amount offset that can be used without rubbing on the fenders? I understand that a 0 offset will rub. Will a 26mm rub? How about 33 or 35?

I do not plan on flaring the fenders... nervous about rolling as well (don't want to risk cracking the mint factory original paint).

thx!

but to use that chart, you have to know the stock offset, and i do not know this.

Stock offset is 45mm on a 5.5" rim (4x114.3 pattern). Using the calculator, I could use a 26mm offset and have the same level of backspacing as the stock wheel.

But here's the issue: it seems that the calculaor just shows how to replicate the stock "fit" to the fender. How do we know calculate the max acceptable before we start hitting the fender? Is there any wasy to tell if there is impending fender issues from sticking out too far?

From what I have read around the forum. the best offset for the most lip you can fit is around +15 to a +20mm offset.

What you gotta do is get all the measurements you can between the wheel/tire to the suspension parts, brake parts, fenders and then plug the stock wheel/tire specs (or whatever you have on the car) and the desired wheel/tire size into the calc, and look in the chart below the wheel/tire diagrams, and see how much the measurements change in either direction, and then you use your measurements that you took, and do the math, see how much room you have to work with. Play around with different wheel/tire sizes to get the desired fit, that will clear all the parts on the car.

Hopefully that makes sense, it does in my head.

25mm on a 7" rim is probably the lowest you can go w/o sticking out.

I disagree. You can have more than 7" if you want. Where it counts is the backspace. You can have 4.75 backspace with 3" lips and you should be fine.
