To answer your question, yes it is very common. Esp on the GSL-se from what I've seen. Mine is about 1/2 - 3/4 inch lower on the drivers side.. Not sure of a common fix other than new springs and such.
and to add....
"rehab is for quitters"

New springs are the ticket. After several years, it is normal for them to sag a bit on the drivers side (although I have seen it happen on the passenger side before too) simply because they are getting old/worn.
New springs should take care of the problem. Aftermarket springs (while allowing for better handling) also tend to cost a bit less (believe it or not) than new stock springs.
I had the sagging problem on my 79 and replaced the springs with Racing Beats design, and put on some Tokico blues all around. Now, after adding my uerathane bushings up front (control arms, sway bar, tension rods) and rear (upper and lower control links and Watts links) the car handles like a shifter cart. I love it.
There is one thing to be aware of about this tho, if you go the route that I did, you will find it extremely annoying when people get in front of you heading into some corners and go slowly through them
