nah man he's gonna make a brand new one. Plus he's gonna put in a bronze race clutch in it as well thats sprung.

 

save the "bad" flywheel I'd like to see it.....hell I'd even drive to lakeland to look at it

Yo man listen to Rotary ressurection and buy the flywheel and clutch he is speaking of, I have a friend that has gone thrugh three trannys because of his six puck clutch and heavy duty (5000lb) or something like that pressure plate, if youi use the car for a daly driver what is the use of a custon flywheel and heavy duty race clutch???? I also thought you were tryin to save money?????/

 

A metal disc wears the hell out of a flywheel and PP friction surface, plus it wears only about 2/3 of the surface, the disc doesnt contact the whole thing. So, once you use a metal puck disc on a PP and FW, you cannot go back to organic, or the disc would get eaten up immediately. Just like putting new brakepads on grooved up *** brake rotors.

 

You gotta be kidding me. I just put a 6 puck copper clutch in my car (came with the engine). When that clutch was gone I planed on going back to a regular HD clutch and pressure plate. That probably won't be fore 10000 km yet though. So, if I use this clutch, then I'm screwed for going back to organic?

IF it is just a few miles, then it isnt a big deal, but the longer that metal disc is on there, the more it eats off the flywheel and PP. The more that is chewed up, the less likely it can be saved by machining and reused. Yes, you can reuse it with an organic disc even without surfacing, but it will eat it up a lot quicker, and chatter a shitload too.

 

The clutch was on the engine when I got it. Its probably been there for at least 30K KM. I guess I'm stuck buying another 6 puck for this thing, and tearing up my tranny faster. At least I've got an extra one from my parts car.
