SA22C Windscreen Bezel/trim

The wind 'done stole' my drivers' side bezel/trim peice that goes on top of the windshield area. The whole mess (all of the trim/bezels) are pretty hokey and I probably should replace the lot. Not a big deal, I had to do the same thing on a Jimmy a year ago.

... I didn't expect the bezels/seals and windscreen clips to cost over $400 through Black Dragon. WTF? Are they made of gold or do they just have build in profit technology?

... Am I best off fabbing up my own solution to the bezel situation or ripping one off a junkyard car and... fixing?

Thanks.

I'm thinking of just leaving the bezels off. Are they structural for the windscreen?

No they are not structural, but I noticed a huge difference in how the air flows over the car without mine on. Without them on I can see very definiate jagged streaks of dirt from where the air flows when it gets dirty. With them on the car it seems to have a more even flow pattern across the roof. that lip just chilling out there in a high pressure area cannot be good for air flow or drag.

bear in mind they swapped part numbers on later RX7s, so if you DO have an SA, try to get something off an 81 or earlier. Maybe no problem, but if there is a choice...? Shouldn't be more than $30-50 for the whole window's trim. You'll need some sort of flat tool, even a sturdy kitchen butter knife might do it, to pop them off the wreck.
NOTE: there are small rubber pads and plastic gaskets, many reuseable, under the trim, so collect and store with car as you remove pieces! Essentially irreplaceable pieces...
Clips WILL break, but either your local glass shop can order a "clip kit", or ebay sells them at $10 a set regularly or maybe try blackdragonauto.com. Again, specific your model year!!! Blackdragon also sells a nylon tool for $8 for popping the trim off.
Good time to yank it all and repaint it...!
'luck

So far, all of the complete windscreen trim kits that are in junkyards here look as though it has been passed through the system of an old woman. I think I'm just going to go with glue/bulk trim...
... Lame.
