SA shifter in FB tranny

i know there was a writeup on how to put a SA shifter in a FB tranny so you don't have to cut the tunnel. anyone know how it's done?

There really isn't much to cut in the tunnel area... just where the shifter comes out, maybe a half inch down. I can take some shears and do it in 30 seconds.

just swap out the tail housing along with the shifter rod.

Only can be done on late 79-80 models and it is not that easy.


As far as if you are using a FB tranny in your SA you need to notch the tunnel back approx 2 inches, there is no getting around that.

The biggest thing is the fitting of the shifter surround piece and boot which I have seen guys use their existing SA boot and use the FB shifter without having to do any modifications. It is just a very tight fit for the boot travel.
