SA owners with REWINDS
My rims and tires are going on around April. I have seen in a search that one SA owner had a problem with the tire rubbing the spring in the front. It was corrected by the Re-speed coil-over kit. I am wondering if any other SA owners with rewinds have had this problem, or any SA owners running rewinds with no problems on stock applications.

more interest here too .
I bought BFG 195/55/15's with a section width of 7.9 " for the Rewinds . This compares to stock size 13" Yokohama Avid section width of 7.1" .
Wondering if the new 15" BFG will clear the stock SA strut/spring or will need a coil over kit in front.

My rewinds on Kumho Ecsta ASX tires (205/50/15) were the ones that interfered with the springs. They have a section width of 8.4". I might just have had very saggy springs. Two other issues were getting new lug bolts( or more sensible studs) and grinding off some of the spring perch which was too close to the sidewall for my taste. Good luck and a good choice.

i got the exact same tires Ecsta Asx but a 195/50 and yes i did have to get the lugbolts off a 81-83 car they are shorter. I did that for a while then got a set of studs that i lock tighted in and have lug nuts, which worked out nice. I also got a set of hub rings off line which made if alot easier in mounting. The size was 59.5-59.6mm inside diameter and 73-73.1mm outside diameter

Robseven, i looked up the specs on the kuhmo 195/50/50's at tirerack and both tires listed had a section width of 7.9". This is the same as the BFG 195/55/15's I bought . So I guess they should clear and I don't have to install the coil over kit I'm buying from ReSpeed right away. This was very helpful.

If you're looking to buy these just remember these are for more for looks than performance. I have a set and they are 10lbs heavier apiece (w/tire) than the FB "+" wheels. Also after taking spirited runs at DGRR last year in the mountains, they seemed to have stretched a bit, as the center caps don't fit as snugly as they did when I first installed them. I had to use some friction tape on one to make it stay in to my satisfaction.
Definitely go for the hub rings, because if you happen to lose a lug while driving, the other 3 will work themselves out in short order. It happened to me and I was lucky that it was on the rear and the drum assembly just dropped straight down and I didn't lose the wheel or control of the car. Good thing it wasn't the front!

Same thing happened here, put them on with out hub rings took it out late at night and only made about 50 feet from my driveway and then bang on dragging the rear rotor and the wheel was in the ditch. These are a must and also i recommend you get studs and use lugnuts just to keep everything consistent and to avoid using to long of wheel bolts

this is some good feedback for the Konigs I didn't think about .... although I should have.
Last year I bought some ASA alloy rims for our 2002 protege and they vibrated after balancing . I took the wheel off an realized the mechanic didn't put the hub rings on supplied with the rims. When they were put back on the problem went away

No problem, I’m glad we have such a good club where everyone is willing to help out and give us valuable information. I’m glad the questions where answered before I ordered my tires now with this information I’ll have to look for 195/50/15 and hub rings to insure that there are no issues.

Your rims stretched! That doesn’t seem safe. What is the total weight your rims and tires? When mine where shipped the total weight was 60LBS and I thought that was light for 4 rims and packaging.

wow thank god i found this page i was about to order a set. found a place that sells them for 450 shipped. if i get studs, and lock tight them in and get Hub centric Rings i should be safe to go right? 59.6 inner and an outer diameter of 73.1 is that what every one agrees the size needed . i was going to order the studs from pineapple racing. which ones should i get. my car is a 1980 .
also iam a tire noob. so what size tire would i need so my "speed-o" will be close to being correct. i know with a car as old as ours its going to be off a little bit. but i did the new trick of driving by those speed sings that also tell you how fast your going. i went by it like 10 times from 15 to 70 and my gauge was dead on believe it or not.
to any one thats going t say i shouldn't speed, the speed limit on that road was 65mph. i did it at 2am so thats how i got away with going 15 mph in a 65mph zone with out pissing people off. i didn't go pass 70 mph because theres no roads around me that have a higher speed limit then that so if iam going faster iam getting a ticket.
(whats the proper term for speed-o)

I get some 55's the only problem is my BFG's only go down to a 205 so I have to find a new tire.

205/50 is what you need, that's as close as you can get to stock rotational size at least for an FB cause that's what I got.
