very interesting, 130 ps @7k, i hate that the japanese always give americans the underpowered versions of cars(w/ the exception of the MKIV supra) , and for some reason i always thought that the 79-80 japanese rx-7 had fender mirrors , cool find either way. oh and what the hell is below the oil filter ?, it doesn't look like a behive or a normal filter mount

The data quoted is JIS not SAE, so while the US got an underpowered version it is not quite that different, about 114hp SAE.

You are right about the wing mirrors, I thought the positions did not change until 81.

Yah not a commercial at all, Look at the Mazda badge at the start after they show the GT badge. Faded like a typical 20+ year old 7.
