SA intake onto an FB?

Will an '80 SA intake swap directly onto an '82 FB engine? I tried searching for it, but I couldn't find anything because I'm not sure what I need to do the search for.

Yea, it will fit.
Going the other way will work too, but requires a block off plate.

It is a popular change. The SA intake does not have the shutter valve.

Yea, mine has a miss, and I think the shutter valve is causing the miss.

One thing that I noticed is that my SA intake seems to have hoses where my FB doesn't. Do I just need to block these off, or will they plug in somewhere?

I can take a pic of what a stock one looks like when I get home if you want.

Which intake gasket do I need to get? The 79-80 or the 81-85?

Also, if I'm going to swap carbs, do I need to get a carb gasket of some sort, or do the Nikki carbs not need gaskets because of the plastic spacer? Or, do I just use some Gasket maker stuff?

Well, if the bolt holes line up, then it really shouldn't matter...

Goto the parts store and ask to see both. Most likely the FB one will have an extra hole somewhere for some emissions equipment.

get the fb gasket. The SA gasket has the extra material on the bottom for that extra port that the fb doesn't have.

actually, it probably won't matter. I think I would get the fb gasket and see how it lines up on the intake, and make sure it seals at the bottom where the extra portion is.

err... my FB intake has the extra hole at the bottom, and so does the FB intake gasket picture on RacingBeat.com. The SA intake does not have the hole where the FB has it, and neither does the SA intake gasket pictured on RacingBeat.com.

Am I getting this backwards?

The true SA manifolds have NO provision for the EGR port located center bottom, as they early 12A's had no EGR.

The later 12A manifolds have that provision built into the manifolds (little rectangular orifice)

To use a true SA manifold on a later 12A block equipped with an EGR port you need to either fill in the EGR opening on the block itself OR fab the manifold with something like a piece of angle iron to block off the EGR opening.

(Rx7Carl helped me clear this up some time ago )

Your choice. I myself use gaskets in both sides of the spacer.

I can't find any carb gaskets that are 'already made'. I suppose I just use RTV sealant or something of the sort?

True SA manifolds as opposed to what? Fake ones?

Is it possible to get a manifold WITH EGR provisions, but WITHOUT the shutter valve?
