SA Coolant level sensor on aftermarket radiator

Ok so as the title says... I have an aftermarket aluminum radiator in my SA and ever since I've installed it 2 years ago I have left the top bung plugged and the sensor disconnected. Well now having plenty of extra time on my hands I have been staying working on old projects. I would like to get a sensor in there, not that I dont check it but because I have slight OCD.

From Atkins rotary website, it says the sensor threads are M11.5x1.25. If I recall correctly (moved recently and lost the old sensor), it was too large for the welded outlet. I did see somewhere about sensors for later generations have m8x1.25 if I'm not mistaken. I'm basically trying to avoid draining the entire system again just to drill and retap the bung (which I should have checked in the first place). I thought I might be able to shave down the threads on one of the sensors and use my die kit to re-thread that (if possible), or see if the later generation one is compatible with my SA. Not sure of the threads on the bung but if the smaller one is closer it would be a lot easier to rethread.

Atkins list the sensor as fitting 79-88 M11.5x1.25mm

I did some searching and this is the correct sensor and size. Could be that aftermarket rad has the wrong bung.

Yeah it definitely does. I cant remember the brand either without looking back 2 years of emails. Everything else was spot on so I guess I cant be that disappointed. If I can find my old sensor maybe I'll try and shave down the threads. I don't necessarily want to potentially ruin a new one. If not I'll have to retap the bung. I'm just nervous about shavings being stuck in the rad even after hosing it out.
