I spent 3 hours today looking for 79 or 80 brake boosters .
Even T3's mini booster with adaptor is NLA . Does any one know any bolt-on alternatives?
I keep reading that you can't use 81+, brake boosters due to the fact they collide with the slave cylinder, here's the neat part, I have an automatic and that's free real estate.

I really can't afford to have mine rebuilt, I need my car for school land the 2-week wait is killer.

I understand that the master cylinders are also different between the SA and FB.
Id be tempted to test fit the FB parts. Or Miata parts.

 

79 and 80 Masters are not interchangable despite being otherwise identical beacsue the threads don't match . 80 boosters do work but they are equaly NLA .

 

A few years ago I was able to get a new SA brake booster from rockeauto, and still using it to this day. Kept my old one just in case I need to rebuild someday. I'm not surprised you can't find one.

All of these issues trace back to my faulty booster, I lost about 2 ounces of fluid in the span of a year ( not enough to fill this thing, this booster has been full of liquid for years before I bought it and probably for the 5 years I have owned my car) filled it back up, and never lost anymore but there was lots of fluid still dripping. Remember I told you guys my engine almost shut down on the freeway and it "fixed" itself. Well, I also threw some gnarly white smoke behind me. I'm guessing the seal finally gave and when I hit the brakes hard it sucked fluid and "filled" itself to the point fluid got chugged by the engine, it chugged enough to drain the booster a tad bit. I'm guessing the brake fluid from Walmart burns clean, I bought Lucas to do my new master cylinder and that stuff burns thick white, and I knew it was not coolant because my hand came out ashy from the tailpipe, also the smoke stopped after I plugged the booster hole.
So this booster was chewing up my masters, giving me a very weird pedal, and was the mysterious cause of my incident last week .

ALSO PS. we need to stop telling people white smoke, it can be one of five things, dirty gas, flooding, atf modulator failure, booster soft failure, coolant seals are blown things There are easy ways to check by plugging the modulator hole/brake booster hole and get rid of that doubt, if that doesn't solve the white smoke then you can assume it is coolant.
