Question s5 into s3?

ive done some searching and found that there are considerable HP gains for the s4 guys to swap over all intake mannifolds and throttle body. what i havent found is if i do the same thing with s5 intake system my afm is already not up to par with the s4, is it possible to use the s5 ecu and intake components on my s3? im asking cuz i might be getting a s5 for close to nothing and want to see how much i can get out of a stock port s3 motor. i have an 85 SE

Yes the S5 ECU will plug right into the highly modified S5 harness that you make to fit into the S3 chassis.
Then there is the simple bolting on of the highly modified stock S5 intakes onto the S3 block.

It's a real easy bolt on affair when everything is moddified just right.

Yeah i have the same set up/////// you have to do do some grinding and **** (not a big deal)....And exhaust welding=).........U can even keep teh same GSLSE ECU if U know about Teh Ohms Law=)w/ 4 TII injectors .........But do not boost more than 8PSI w/ stock ECU or stock ignition system..........12psi MAX w/ locked dizzy and retarted timing(But forget about smog(emissions)

Let me clarify.
The non-turbo 6 port 13B BLOCKS,are all pretty much the same. You can bolt the S5 manifolds onto a GSL-SE engine block with minimal difficulty.
The S5 wiring,ECU and control system is completely different than the SE.Youll have to use the entire, unchanged S5 right harness that controls the injectors,VDI,CAS and other sensors. It goes directly from the ECU to the engine.
The left harness will have to be custom made. Its easy enough to do,just use an FSM to determine what wires you have to run, then string them out and connect to the 3rd ECU plug and the components. This includes, the ECU power, leading and trailing coils/ignitors and fuel pump. Most of the other stuff is 2nd gen specific and not neccesary to run the engine in the 1st gen chassis.Stuff like A/C and P/S sensors, milage switches, voltage load sensor, cruise switch,ect.....

To run a S5 setup, you MUST retain the electronic oilmetering pump. The S5 ECU will not work right without it plugged in and working(limp mode). The S5 OMP wont bolt to an SE front cover, youll have to modify the cover to accept it,or run the SE OMP and tie the S5 OMP off to the side, with the electrical leads plugged into it.

BTW,all this info is relevant to either N/A or turbo S5 engines. Its all the same amount of work to swap into the 1st gen, which ever you chose.I did my S5 swap about 2 years ago after running S4 for a couple years. It was a bit more complex, but its much smoother and refined compared to the S4 controls, and having a real check engine light makes diagnostics much easier.
