What style flange does the S4 turbo use?

Its an oddball, because of the S4 twin scroll system the inlets, and thus the footprint, are not symetric. The S5 has a pretty symetric footprint, but I dont think its common to any T4 flanges, since the TII turbos are made just for the TII......

Thanks steve... Any idea as to what would be a good turbo for use on a T4 flange? Possibly the T04E with 60.1 trim?

Completely depends on your expectations of power, response and ability to accept future upgrades.
The 60:1 is a good, popular choice. Some are going bigger as improvements to ball bearings and trims are increasing spoolup times on bigger turbos. You can spend a lot of money on the wrong turbo,so do plenty of asking around and research before selecting a winner.

Well for a bit of expectations... I am looking to get about 275-300 horse at the rear wheels and will be starting with me 85 SE engine. I plan on running a Megasquirt controller and additional TII injectors along side the SE injectors.

I am currently in the planning/purchasing parts stage, I just bought a tubular manifold custom built to fit the first gen with T4 style flange for the turbo. It is setup with a V band flange on the wastegate side of things. Looks as if it will be a perfect fit and cannot wait to get it.

I am uncertain which turbo exactly to got with. My initial thoughts were to go with a KKK27 turbo but as I understand the flange is different. I happened upon this turbo header and couldn't pass it up, so now I can either work with the T4 flange or have a new flange replace it. I know alot of the S4, S5, and S6 guys are going with the T04E and T04S setups and was not entirely sure which to go with. It will be primarily a street car and the occasional Autox but I know I have too many plans that will limit what I can do for racing events.

Other planned upgrades include Tokico Illuminas all around and Ground Control coil overs. A possible FC front subframe swap and the eventual possibility of a IRS system depending on what autopaul works up and I can help him with.

I know with the turboing of a N/A engine I will have to add a knock sensor and possibly modify my oiling system.

As of right now the decision I am working on is which turbo to run...

275-300 wheel HP is well within a 60-1's abilites. Some TII guys would even call that sedate!
Id go with a TO4E 60-1 and discuss the trim and A/R numbers with the turbo builder.Unless you speak to someone with the exact same setup, and get some real world feedback from them about spoolup and boost behaviors,Id let the builder decide which A/R's and trims would be best.
