S4 or S5 swap?

I want to swap a TII motor into my 1985 base model to replace the 12a. I searched around a little bit but couldnt gather up all the information i was looking for.

A few questions...

-What, if any, power differences are there between the s4 and s5?
-How much harder, is the s5 swap then the s4 swap?
-If these engines come without a harness or ECU, what are my options for engine management systems, and what is the most cost effective option?
-Will the shifter come through in the same spot?
-Will the stock driveshaft need to be swapped out?

and I guess this is as good a time as any to ask if anyone is looking to get rid of a TII motor and trans. If so, PM me.

Thanks, and I apologize if this information is on another thread.

This has been covered a million times...
S4 t2 stock is 180hp
s5 t2 stock is 200hp
S5 is only harder in that you need to retain the electronic omp (assuming you want to use a stock ECU otherwise its no harder)
shifter needs to be modded to fit correctly (not very hard if you are mechanically inclined)
driveshaft needs to be custom a bit shorter, and the tail shaft of the t2 trans has a different size splined shaft. not a big deal, any competant driveshaft shop can do it
As for engine management you can run a stock ecu, or megasquirt, or haltek, or etc etc
Once you get the engine and get into it, start asking more specific questions, hopefully my answeres got your started.

Written in VB Catalog:
S4 TII- 182hp
S5 TII- 200hp

From what I've heard, S4 swap is much easier than the S5 (Because of the ECU/etc). The S4 ECU is easier to manipulate, and as for the S5 if you are using the stock ECU... try and trick it and it will most likely go into limp mode.

All TII trannies are going to be like 1-2(?)" further back compared to the 1st gens.

I personally don't know if the stock rear end will hold that much hp, but most people will probably advise you to upgrade.

the rear end is ok. you wont have any problems out of it..also you can switch to carb, robert sell the manifold and the carbs you wont have to worry about running lots of wires.. or have to worry about ecu's woot...blow thru set up for it is around 600ish i think dont get mad if im wrong... carbs make just as much power as EFI just most the time it is not as smooth cha ching

No problem on asking the question, just busting your chops Everything I've read suggests the stock rear ends can take 250hp with no problems as long as you don't hammer the hell out of it (kind of the point of having a turbo I know)
As 81gsl12a said you could go carb as well. You have many options, stock efi, carb, some kind of aftermarket efi system.
Just as a side note, My current project car is a 83 S that i'm installing a 90 JDM (means nothing) 13bt running the stock ECU. I'm doing all the work myself, and I don't have access to a machine shop. So all the modifications to the motor/trans mounts, as well as the shifter can be done with a fairly basic set of tools.
You should really get a budget in mind, and seriously consider what kind of project you wish to build. Then come back with more specific questions, many people on here have done these swaps and know a lot (more than I for sure) so you'll get answers. Good luck!

I am in the process of building a TII swap right now.

I plan on running an S5 motor & Turbo, with a S4 MOP and all S4 parts.

Its not the motor itself that makes the difference, its what makes the engne run that counts.

I will use an S4 Rtek ECU, with an s4 wiring harness, low imp injectors, and other s4 parts.

So I can use my S5 Engine & Turbo, and start with a higher stock HP level
