S4 rad into a FB

Well I spent the afternoon today installing my S4 rad that i bought from Robb. It was quite a bit of work but i think the out come was worth it. The next thing to do is install the efan that i have for it as well. Here are a couple of before removal pictures

Pictured below is are pic of when the cutting was done and the mounting tabs I built were mounted.

This is what it looks like with the rad mounted without the hoses installed.

And now the hoses installed.

Hope you guys like the pictures.

Looks good. Is the water temp cooler? How is it working without the fan shroud?

Is that Radiator any better than a stock FB? I ended up replacing mine with an aftermarket model which is plastic and seriously lighter. I've had it for over 50,000 miles and no signs of problems yet. However, all the mods I want to do to my car seem to be leading me towards S4ing the crap out of my car so I wondered if that radiator is an additional item I need to add.

I was reserved about a plastic radiator at first since I know the rotary engines get so hot but my car is in the state it is due to a fire. The fire was from an apartment complex which I was basically parked less than 10 feet from the blazing building. My bumper and front plastics got fooked but that radiator is still perfect. Hence, I've never looked back. The lighter wait was just an added benefit.

I dont know if the stock S4 rad i have in there is any better then the stock FB rad. The stock rad i had started rotting away all the fins were falling out. I put the S4 rad in there cause i like the look of the laid back rad. In the future when I turbo the P-Port I'm installing i will just order a 3 row aluminum S4 upgrade rad to keep things real cool.

i ended up just going with an all aluminum remake from radiators.com i think i paid $124 for it and it works great. so much cooler and lighter than the stock one. i never go past 1/4 of the heat gauge.

Unless you make some shrouds for the sides and bottom and some sort of fan shroud, You will find it cools less efficiently than a stock one.

Was the original fit FB type used or the FC S4 type? Thanks.

Watch the lower rad hose. There's a bit of a kink in it, and since that part is under suction, you might collapse it at high revs. You can make a spiral support by winding some wire around the appropriate size tube, and then inserting it inside the hose. That's what I'm about to do for mine.

Looks good.

Did you make templates of the mounting tabs?

Are you going with the stock shroud and e-fan that came with the S4 rad?

edit: I hate radiators.com. Instead of just offering a catalogue, they make you go through a ******* retarded 'chat' screen with a bot that's as bad as the worst automated switchboard you've ever encountered.

When will businesses learn to build websites that let the customer go find what they want, instead of going through **** that some fat bastard at the company thought was 'cool' before obtaining any information?
