S4 NA LSD swapping question, searched but still not clear
Hello, the question is which S3 models will fit a GXL S4 NA LSD.
What is the difference between S3 diff models?
Spline nē?
Which of them has 7" ring?
Thanks a lot

There are 2 main differences in S3 diffs, LSD and non-LSD is one, the second is the LSD plates. The SE diff has a different count between plates and rings than the GSL model. Total number is the same, the SE diff is set up to be a tad softer. All parts are basically the same and interchangeable.
As far as swapping in the S4 diff, it's said it's possible but I have yet to see anyone here who has done it. If there is a difference between S3/S4, I'd start with checking the axle size and spline counts.

Thanks for the replies,
Unfortunately, if I wanted to have a shorter gearing in my FC NA I would need to lengthen the FB pinion shaft...with all that it implies
The main question was done because a friend is interested in the clutch type LSD from my 87 FC GXL for swapping into his FB diff housing (rear disc brakes...so LSD??)
Cheers
