s4 cats on an 84 gsl-se?

Hey guys, long story short, I'm going to register my car in MD soon, and it will need to pass the MD inspection. Right now everything will pass except for the exhaust. I have a header to a straight pipe to the muffler. I have the original cat, but not the cat (or pipe or whatever) that actually bolts up to the manifold. I ALSO have a 1987 base model rx-7 sitting as a lawn orniment at my house in MD. Do you guys know if I can hook up the pipe or cats that go onto that engine onto my 84 gsl-se? If so, that would probably solve my problem as long as I can get the cats on.

so my question is, does whatever pipe/cat that bolts onto an 87 exhaust manifold also fit on a gsl-se?

there's no problem using the cats, but it's not going to just bolt on. i'm using a Gen II manifold on my 13B now and i had to get a downpipe made because it wouldn't bolt up.

diabolical1, do you know approx. how much it was to have a downpipe made? (I don't have the original, all I have is the cat with the air pump nozzle thing on it)

well, the price will vary from shop to shop. i think i had paid $100, but that was too much (and i knew it at the time, but the guy had me by the nuts) ... so don't pay that much.

bring some quality pipe to a shop and then all they charge you for is labor.

hmmm, well, i'm gonna first try to just slip the safety guys a few green pieces of paper... and if that doesn't work, I'll consider goin to a muffler shop... but i'll probably first consider going to another guy and trying to slip him some pieces of paper
