IL s2-s3 dash swap Q??

i am looking at a mess of parts i have in my posession (dash parts). its a pretty straight foward swap minus the different mounts for the top of the dash... untill you get to the vin plates on the dash. my question is how have people done the swap without tearing up the plates? thinking about this cause i cant get a good s2 dash around here and i have 2 complete s3 dashes. so before i go and break something what advice do you guys have?

lol, yeah it does look out of place. i know i had heard of people doing it but i was stumped over what they did with their vin tags. i know you cant replace the rivets without the cops hassling you.
i am thinking that you cant do it legally without an inspection or something, but either way. would be interesting to get the how to and who's who on the deal lol.
kinda leads me to wonder if you swap cabs on a truck what do you do...?

i know that , but on the s3 dash it is on a vent peice in the dash pad unlike the s2 where the upper dash is the metal peice and then the dash top... if you swap in a s3 dash into a s2 you would need to remove that part or the dash will not fit

yeah i am looking on other forums and tring to look up laws and such cause i know that with my luck i will get pulled over by the one first gen freak officer and he will call me on the dash and for some bogus reason i will get a stupid ticket or something. eh, seems like too much red tape. i guess i will just stick with the s2 dash...

I left mine removed. When asked about it I said that since the dash was replaced, I removed it not to confuse what VIN number was correct, and to check out the one on the firewall. The cop didnt seem to have a problem since it is stamped, and obviously cant be changed easily.
