RX7 GSL-SE Targe ( IMSA ) ???
Ok I found for sale a 84 GSL-SE Targa with the IMSA package and wanted to know how rare is this car.
The car is all original other than the radio and the wheels but I would buy it with the original wheels.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Also how much is to much for this car?
Here is the car located in New Jersey.

Car is pretty much stock other than the wheels, and the radio. The owner witch is an adult over 40 put in a new engine, fuel system, ignition system and the car was just painted 2 months ago factory black.
The owner also has thew stock wheels with tires.
I also found a 85 GSL-SE with a JDM TII swap at the same price but that one is red with the full IMSA kit including side skirts and rear bumper skirts.

Basically, you have an 84 GSL-SE, period. Looks like it has the factory option Targa band but I'm not sure if the rear spoiler and air dam are factory pieces or aftermarket. Finding an un molested car with the Mazda factory optioned body kit is rare these days, but the body pieces alone are not enough to make a substaintial difference in the actual value, unless your a freak for this particular option.
You need to evualate the car overall first and foremost. Condition and originality normally dictate value. Aftermarket add on's (wheels, spoilers, stereo's ect...) are seldom heavily factored into "whats my car worth". You say it has a new engine, is it still of the SE variety? Is the new paint an actual match for the factory color or just one of the many shades of black? What about mileage?
5K is strong money for an FB, even an SE with a replacement engine and a respray. Plus, I'd suspect more has been modified if you begin to dig. And really, you have to look at the details and access the condition. You also have to know what you expect out of the car. That is, do you want it for a daily driver, a second car, ongoing project, full factory restoration or what?
Depending on what you want the car for and what kind of condition it's currently in will give you an idea of how much time & money it would take to get the car there. Then, how much sense does that number make? It's not easy sometimes, but if you take the emotion out of the purchase and just use the numbers, it all becomes more cut and dried.

The interior is pretty clean.
