I sooooo blew away the smog test. :-)

Just checking to see if the DMV is targeting RX7's specifically.

I went overkill!! Tuned my '88 Vert, dumped a bottle of fuel injector cleaner in the tank, changed my oil with synthetic, and made sure I got right onto the dyno before my exhaust cooled down so it would represent real situation. Running stock exhaust. Result:

HC Max/Measured CO Max./Meas. NO Max./Meas.
15mph 121/8 --- .76/.16 --- 1059/90
25 mph 96/12 --- .65/.09 --- 919/183

#^&$*%(&%%*&^%## that, CA DMV!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, after two weeks of being rejected by the emmissions controlers here in Vegas, it's been tough to take pride in my '85 RX7. Let me ask, did you eventually pass? HOW? My Hydrocarbons are off of the roof as well. We have adjusted the ign. timing and done all the things you have done with the additves and such. Something about 'not getting fire in the hole'. Any help would be great.

Sorry to make you guys burn with jealousy, but here in Michigan it's pretty much legal to drive anything. You can have 3 foot flames with black sooty smoke shooting out of straight pipes sticking out of the hood and you'll just get a noise citation - if you're near a city.

I would suggest hi-flo cats from Random Technology, if you can get away with 'em.

we don't have emissions tests here in SC either. In fact, it's been several years now since they stopped vehicle inspections all together, got rid of that damn sticker in the corner of the windshield.

check your cat and your that your ACV valve are working properly. you could always try what I did on my GSL-SE and take a peice of heater hose and run it directly from the air pump to the split air hose (essentially bypassing the ACV valve). PLus if you use gas line antifreeze in the gas tank it helps bring down the emissions I hear (but I used it anyways!)

Man, I wish they'd follow that lead here in NC. I can't stand that meaningless sticker in the corner of the windscreen ... it's like having lunacy stare you in the face every time you get into your car.

SYNTHETIC!?!?!?!? Please, please go get your oil changed with some good CRUDE oil man. Synthetic doesn't burn and after awhile your going to get some bad deposits on your rotors. Anyway let me calm down a little, Can't really help you out with the emisions other than stating the obvious, get a better cat. converter. The thing is the way the engine is designed it uses more gas than it can burn off due to when the rotor goes over the intake port it sucks in a little gas.

You guys are bitching about a sticker in the corner of the windsheild? Here in NOVA, not only do we have emissions, but we have two stickers to mount in the bottom middle of the windsheild, a county tax sticker and the state inspection sticker. At that, the last time I had my 7 inspected they put the big yellow rectangle of an inspection sticker on slanted bad, and you can't miss it cause it's right in the middle! That ads insult to injury! Now everytime I look at my car, I see that crooked sticker and I can't do anything about it till my inspection dies next June (cause I won't even try to go back early and waste $10 for another crooked sticker)
