Hi!

I have been thinking of the same setup.
My comments :

It will have very little low end, because of the short intake manifold if it sits beside the engine.(4" manifold or less)

The gains on it will be superb.

Tuning will be difficult,as syncronising 2 carbs on a rotary is not easy. Once its syncronised, the jetting will be easy if you know carbs(even better if you know Webers/Dellorto/Solex/Mikuni)

It will have the common thing that all 2 barrel carbs have.Low end will not be good, up top it will really scream.

The CFM rating will be overkill for a stock 12A.
With 36mm venturies,it will flow enough for a 300hp engine.

Take all of this into consideration, and most people wont think it`s a easy conversion.

PICS of dual dcoe's here:

the manufacturer of the dual dcoe kit said you get 10-15% more horsepower and MUCH better throttle response than a single dcoe.

single 40 dcoe is too small in my opinion. you want at least 45 and really 48.

he used to run dual carbs ,i am also looking at doing a setup up like this. just finding the dual carb manifold is kinda hard. Most the the places that used to make them don;t exist or make them anymore.

the ideal induction length for a 12a rotary engine is around 400mm, but you can add that on by having some long curved trumpets on the carb (if you are that concerned about huge power) I am (with a lot of help from Bill S) going with a similar setup on my 1st gen using motorbike throttle bodies and a TWM side draft manifold. should be an interesting setup and I wonder how much power can be made out of a stock port 12a (don't forget the euro engines have a 'tall port' 12a as standard)

regards,
Mike

I am pretty sure the 400$ Twm carb dual carb manifold stopped getting made for the 12A.

It did, along with the 13B version too. They sold their intake business off to someone else (posted on the TWM page somewhere) and that company does not make them either.

I was lucky enough to get my hands on one with dual Mikuni PHH 40's. Still waiting to rebuild them and then get them installed and tuned. I do have pictures of them off of the engine and also a pic from when I was doing a test fit on a spare 12a in the garage.

There is a local (1.5hr) guy that runs dual DCDs on a 4port 13B. It looks sweet and he said once it was tuned in the car just screams.

If your up for tuning,or have resources then it will be fun to do.Webers arent that difficult if you understand them, and tune with patience

The single 40 DCOE style carb is really a waste of time on a Rotary(Except if its a single Rotor).A Guy i know has a single 40 on,and his engine has the responce of a diesel truck..

I have the dual DCOE set-up. It has more low end torque than you would expect. I am just a weekend guy who likes to play around with cars and keeping it tuned isn't that hard.

Try using the right terminology if you want less confusion. It's two-barrel or dual-throat. A "dual carb setup" is exactly that... two carbs.
