Yep, I think two of the origianl Group B RX-7's are still competing here in Norway.
Also check out this one used in rallycross and hillclimbing. Custom widebody and 13B PP.

EDIT: Another from the rallycross track:

That is exactly what I wanted to see. Those guys know how to throw the rear end around. That would be so cool to have a 7 that could handel that type of driving. I think I would get in alot of trouble with it.

love the braaaap
Almost any 7 owner would get into a lot of trouble with that.
The car in the second vid sounds awsome. It has a real lumpy idle though. Would that be a P-Port? Nice vids, and that guy really shifts fast. Faster than even the LeMans racers do.

It's the same guy and same car in both of the vids. He's running a 13B PP, Volvo M45 gearbox with dog rings (no need to clutch when shifting) and a Volvo 1031 rearend.
(Very easy to get racing parts for the Volvo's here in Scandinavia)

Wow, I love that. I have a cool vid that I need to get off a video of a rally 3-door GLC with a 12a turbo, that car can really move.
Love the driving in those vids - sweet.

In a TSD rally you and your navigator are given a set of course notes. These give you a set speed (at or below the speed limit), and a distance to cover to the next instruction (usually an intersection/turn/sign). Your goal is to cover that distance at exactly that speed. You are scored on time taken at unannounced checkpoints placed throughout the course. If you get there early, you get points, if you get there late, you get points. Its about precision not speed.
It sounds easy and boring, but it isn't. There is also a lot more to it than what I have here. Rally racing is fun, and generally inexpensive. We usually race for about $60 plus a tank of gas and some food.
I think I'm going to rally race my RX-7 now. I've haven't rallied since I lost my beater Buick.

The whining is due to straight cut gears. Nothing to do with being a dogbox.
Here's a *great* rally video - Andrew Havas driving his (famous?) orange RX-7. Roof cam!

I have half of a dogbox in my garage... the other half will be when I get enough round tuits to finish modifying the gears/sliders, and decide if I want 1st and 5th synchronized or just 5th or none at all (currently it's just 3rd and 4th).
THEN I'd need money, to buy new bearings, and some Devcon to strengthen the front trans housing so maybe 3rd gear won't die so quickly. So i am in no rush.
Really wish I had a Miata gearset to play with instead of an FB gearset... the Miata gears are much closer and thus, besides the performance benefits, are more conducive to non-synchro shifting.
Clutches are still a good idea for a dogbox, but you never have to worry about the synchros blocking/balking a shift.
