Unhappy rx-7 problems

ok so here is the story. i was going to go to school one day and went to turn on my car and it would not turn over so while i was looking at it i noticed that my rpm's weren't being measured so i didn't go to school that day and pushed my car to my garage there i took off the spark plugs and also noticed that they were wet i thought it was flooded. i don't know how to clear that up. but still the rpm's were not getting measured so then i took it to a mazda dealer and they told me it had low compression and that i needed a new engine. didn't i am wondering why it was working great one day then the next day it just broke. i am looking also just in case i do need a new engine for a 12a my rx-7 is an 1985
just wanna give it a few more try's before i give up and buy a new engine. Any one have some idea's they can give me. thanks

Did Mazda do a compession check on the motor, or did they just tell you what they thought the problem was? If they did check the compression and it was low to non-existent at any cycle of either rotor.... then I'm sorry to say that your engine is toast.

I would check and make sure you have spark, if you have spark, then while your plugs are out turn the car over for about 30 secs or so. Until you dont see anymore mist comeing from the plug holes. Then put new plugs in and fire it up! If the plugs keep on getting wet after you have done this procedure, then your engine seals are leaking water and you will need a rebuild. Unless you keep on flooding it then the wet plugs will smell like gas, then maybe you will need to rebuild the carb. When the seals in the carb go bad it will flood the engine easily. Hope it is flooded for you, and warm that engine up before you haul ***! If you dont you will warp the housings and then leak water into the housings!

Flooded plugs and a tach that doesn't bounce when turning over sounds like a bad trailing igniter to me.

Sounds like ignitor problem. $200 at dealer, $15 on eBay, even better at the junkyard.

Are you trying to say that the voltmeter part of the tach isn't registering voltage?

Also, be very suspicious of dealership mechanics telling you that your motor is bad.
A lot of the dealerships haven't touched a rotary in years.
