running out of fuel..
ok so today i decided to go for a nice 4th gear pull, but after around 4.5k my car starting bogging down and had absolutely no power at all. i just recently put in the carb base gasket, it runs better but once the secondaries kicks in there is just about no power.
i have a holley carb and a holley red fuel pump.
any ideas on what the problem is guys?
thanks.

The floats are easy to adjust, just take off the top cover of the carburator where the floats are located. Flip that over and let the floats hang, Get a ruler and measure the float from the gasket to the front of the float and it should be 16mm, then flip it over again and let it hang down, measure from the gasket to the farthers most point of the float and it should be 51mm give or take 2mm. If the floats are not right then you adjust them by taking the float out and bending the tab were the needle goes up or down according to how you have to adjust it and measure again until you get it right.

mine is having the same problem....with the same setup(minus the pump) I think it is just timing bec its spuddering in the low RPM range too... is yours??
I know its not my fuel filter b/c I removed it and placed it directly infront of the carb to keep a good eye on it. I did this b/c there is nasty **** in my tank b/c the car sat 4 a year.

2fast4rotar - you need a better pump, the stock one isnt enough for a holley.
mine runs smooth in 1st and 2nd gear redline. but as i hit redline in 3rd gear it seems to running out of fuel, im guessing fuel starvation?
anyone know anything about these holley carbs?

I have no clue as to how to mount the fuel pump.
I know i will be running two filters though from here on out.
Have you used any type of seafom like products recently. I used Seafoam in my tank and i believe that's why mine is clogged.

Check fuel lines , fuel filter and tank for dirt or rust . I experienced the same thing
and i realized that we returned the carb lines. On a Holley you don't return the carb for return at all just cap the fuel return . make sure you are getting 7 lbs of fuel pressure . also, Holley's floats adjust from the top brass nuts on the bowls adjust the floats so that they weep just a Little from the sight holes . where they put the omp lines into the carb.

You still have to have a filter BEFORE the fuel pump. Your problem could very well be that all that nasty ****, is now clogging your pump, because you removed the filter. The filter wasn't put there arbitrarily, it's in that location for a reason.

ever since I first checked the filter, it was after the pump. The pump shouldnt affect it at all.

What I don't understand is this.....
When you buy the RB setup they say "you have to have the high-power- fuel pump."
But when I baught my system I just used the stock pump and opened the jets a little(the flat-head screws on the front and back of the carb)
The car runs great when you mash the gas. It will chirp 1st, 2nd, and 3rd gears
but when I'm cruising at 60mph in 4th gear at 4200RPM it is wide open.
Also this only happens sometimes. Plus I cannot get the car to stop spuddering in the low RPM range, but when the secondaries in the holley open up it runs GREAT!!! is it worse the colder the car is.
... Sorry about taking over the tread, but I need the same answers as you man...
Am I shooting myself in the foot by not buying the high power fuel pump??
