Run without the T-Stat?

My 79 SP has been running about half of on the temp guage. I just put in an E-Fan today and it did not help. I have been thinking about just taking out the T-Stat. Anyone run with out one?

Thanks

Try fixing the problem instead. Maybe the thermostat is broken, hows the radiator? hoses? is the coolant new? Maybe it needs to be flushed out.

yea cuz if u remove the thermostat you'll develop lot's of hot and cold spots thus leading 2 a new motor.....dont think u wanna do that unless u have another already 2 put in

Do not run without the thermostat. The thermostat provides backpressure in the cooling system which helps the transfer of heat from the engine to the coolant. It will also leave the bypass hole open which means hot coolant will be constantly recycling through the engine.

Ok

Picked up a 180degree T-stat. Does the Bypass hole matter?
