I've removed and semi-"restored" the external rubber seal/trim pieces that go around taillight the taillights on 85 FB; but now I'm not sure what sort of adhesive to use to reattach them to the taillight assemblies.

When I peeled the pieces off for cleaning, it looked like they had originally been attached with a sort of rubber cement or something; not sure what it actually was (aside from messy), and I'm reluctant to just try some random glue off the shelf.

Has anyone dealt with this before, and have a recommended adhesive?

 

So long as you don't ever plan on taking the seals off again, get a tube of weather strip adhesive found at most local parts stores, it'll do the job and do it well.

 

i used clear RTV

 

I used black weatherstrip adhesive on mine.....worked great
