Rotary Tech Help Needed
Hello I just joined, I have owned these fine cars for 20 years
I have a 84 se sitting in the garage that I want to get going again, it has not moved for 4 years.
Does anyone know someone in the Detroit area that would be willing to give me a hand doing this? Please email me if you can be of any help. I appreciate your time!
Mike

Join up with the Michigan forum and post there. Plenty of Motor City Rotor Heads on there, but the forum is a bit slow so don't expect a response overnight...

i bought one years ago that hadnt ran in probably 5-6 years. i put a new battery and a couple gallons of gas in it and it would spin over (which is the first good sign), but not crank. so my next step, i spun it over by hand (by pulling on the a/c belt) and was squirting MMO (marvel mystery oil) in each chamber through the spark plug hole. i let that sit over night, bought some new plugs and hoped for the best.
nothing
well, after checking the spark (which was there), making sure the fuel pump was working by taking the air filter out and pushing the flap door thingy on the AFM (air flow meter) while the key is on, then using a noid light on the injectors confirming they were firing, i realized that the plugs didnt smell like gas. so i pulled the injectors out and sent them to www.rcengineering.com for cleaning. when i got them back and installed them, it fired up 3 seconds after i turned the key.
BUT KEEP IN MIND..........it will be easier to check the plugs if they're wet with gas or not BEFORE you put the MMO in the engine. so go over the basics first before the MMO trick.
good luck and you should find all your needs on this great site..... even buyers if you want to sell it. HINT HINT ! !

Welcome to the forum. A few of us have owned 7's for that long and more. I bought my first one new in 79. Good advice to post in the local forum to see what help you can get. Isn't it a little cold up there to be working on cars this time of year? It's too cold even in Texas these days.
