Rotary Shack Screwed me.
I ordered a Webber carb from rotaryshack, sent them the money via paypal, payed extra to have it shipped 2nd day, and he told me he was customizing it for my 12a 85' and also giviing me direct fire kit. Well its been about 10 days and i had to stop my payments, i talked to them on the phone and they kept saying they would call me back, or give me a tracking #, never did, barely answered the phones after that. So just wanted to share and for u guys to beaware of this, i was under the impression they were a great company, i was wrong, had to stop a payment of around 900$+ and now im stuck with my nikki that isnt working well at all and now i have no time to get a new one and install it with my current work situation.
SCREWED!
SCREWED!
and also giviing me direct fire kit.
Others have had delivery problems from Rotary Shack. If you could wait, I'm pretty sure you'd eventually get the parts. I don't know if RS is still a one-man operation, but in the olden days, the wait was typically long enough to cause worry and doubt in his customers. A few emails or phone calls was usually enough to set a customer's mind at ease. It sounds like you're beyond all of that now though. Good luck getting it resolved. Maybe somebody here has a Nikki for you? I'd offer you one of mine, but they all appeared to have water damage when I messed with them back in November.
i dont like being lied to and yes he said he would do direct fir kit and set all the proper fuel/oil lines and such so it would go right in, he said it was done when i called him and that was last friday, and he would ship it ASAP sence i payed extra, quite dissipointed i was very excited and took off 2 days that i couldnt get back to install and play with it.
I'm fixin to send a carb and manifold to Robert for race prep and expect a fairly quick turn around. I hope there's a reasonalbe explanation for your situation.
I'm sure Robert will be along and explain. He has been great with me and has spent a lot of time via emal's and phone.

There are numerous threads detailing bad service from Rotary Shack from not sending parts which were paid for months earlier, to broken promises and poor workmanship. More threads have been started criticising him than any other vendor.
On the otherhand, Rotaryshack gets some very positive comment, sometimes bordering advertising, but never the less complimentary.
If he is a one man operation with no other staff, things can become overwelming and promises honestly made not kept. My tuner is in that camp, other priorities suddenly come up and your's put aside. But I stick with him because what I get in the end is the best.
When I joined the Forum in 01, likewise Paul Yaw was the topic of conversation- great work, long delays, unreturned calls. It is sometimes what you have to live with when the average mechanic knows nothing about rotaries, and there are very few places who do a good job and not charge more than the 1st gen cost when you bought it.

1st off way wrong place to post this. There is a good guy bad guy section of the forum. Who is they? Robert is essentially a one man shop. From making/racing turbo sevens to paying for his speeding tickets in court he can be a little difficult to get ahold of. You are essentially working/buying from a one man shop that know what your RX requires. Unfortunately, he does sometimes suck at getting items out on time and for every complaint I have seen on here, he always comes though in the end. I really hope you managed to talk to him before you jumped the gun on canceling your payment. Just the words im canceling the payment get the point across There has only been one time I canceled a payment on paypal and that was after waiting a month and a half.
Rotary shack is the ****, Rob has done everything possible to help me with my car, but being half way across the country makes it hard, I waited over 3 months for my weber, very stressful and couldnt get a straight reason till after i got it. but I did get it, and he has fixed it when I was not satisfied with a local shops attempt to tune it and eventual mangeling of it.
Robert and Rotary Shack are a good thing for this community and sell quality products in my experience, no matter how long the wait.

oh christ ... not this stuff again ...
how long has it been? i don't know Robert. i've never even dealt with him, but from all the threads i've seen since he went solo, people have been satisfied. did you research him and Rotary Shack for yourself, or did you just go off of someone's word? give it some time ... i don't think he's going to want to jeopardize his rep ... but i could be wrong.

If the man said he could ship fast at extra cost, then it should have been done. Period.
i'm simply saying that regardless of what Robert says to you on the phone or wherever ... there are many threads that tell the real tale. i have nothing to gain and i'm not defending him in any way, i'm just saying that if this is a case of impatience, then ...

just for the record, i'm not trying to sound insensitve
it's just that this seems to come up often about Rotary Shack and i find it hard to believe that someone can hear the good, but not the bad ... that's all.

No, it's a case of agreeing to pay extra for quick delivery then being let down with no communication or excuse offered. It's simply poor customer service.
I have been let down, but my tuner always rings up and gives the reason. An urgent competition car problem or delay in getting a part. That is good customer service.

well ... i ordered a set of side intakes from St. Andre's for my MR2 Turbo, and they charged me and didn't send it for a over 2 months. when i e-mailed, them the guy said they forgot to ship ...
but then they sent it within a week. it took www.turbochargers.com almost 3 months to ship my turbo to me.
my point, you ask?
business is business and they will say anything you want to hear to get you to buy from them. i didn't have any background info on St. Andre's saying that they were not good with orders - and it wasn't from lack of trying to get some. however, there are several threads on this board that involve Robert (both before and after Rotary Shack). is it wrong that he paid for 2 day shipping? absolutely ... no one can argue that. however, there are many people that have posted that he sometimes takes A LOT longer than he says he will to ship an order. that's all i'm saying ...

2 months, 3 months? i got all of you beat.... lol, it's all good tho. he's a one man team and he deals with alot of **** over there on that side of the country. hahaha, i dunno. one thing that is a MUST with rob at rotary shack is PATIENCE. i somehow have more than anyone i know hahahaha.
Out of curiosity, what is the story about Rotary Shack and Robert. I just presumed he was the owner. Comment on this thread implies RS collapsed and Robert is now operating by himself.
So does he have a shop? And could I just go up there? I ask because I am going turbo and I was wanting some help along the way such as getting my weber boostprepped. He is hard to get ahold of though. No pms, a week to answer an e-mail...but I have heard great things of his work.
The interesting thing about Robert/Rotary Shack is the polarizing effect that he seems to generate.
From extremely negative (he is a crook, don't buy from him) posts, to the very positive (he is great, great work, etc) posts.
I frequent three rx forums and see his posts (should I say advertisements) quite frequently. So, he has enough time to post on the net.
From the "what it's worth" category, do a search on the www.mazspeed.com site and see what you find.

I waited forever for a Weber from those guys (Mazda Racing), it came jetted wrong and with absolutely no hardware. Just a (very beat up) box with a carb, intake, and those crappy foam filters.
To Robert's credit he blamed it all on Jeff, and offered to help me out, which I declined to accept. I guess that's what you have to deal with, the more dependable suppliers don't offer the carb setup.
