Why am I doing this?

Roof mount antenna

Anybody ever put a roof mount antenna in a first gen? One of the shorty ones that angle back like VW GTI's used to have. The regular power antenna on mine has been gone since I took it out back in 86 after it died, and now that i got the car back and am redoing it I dont like the look of the antenna mast coming thru a rubber grommet in the rear spoiler, so i am going to fiberglass the hole in the spoiler over and move the antenna to the roof....but wanted to see if anyone had done this before....

I havent but i want to put a wire antenna in the rear right triangle glass panel one of these dyas. I went to a concert and some1 broke off my mast in the parking lot =(.

I'm not sure about that antenna. Makes it resemble a remote control toy car.

I looked into doing this to my old GSL, but I didn't get to before some idiot totaled it for me. I was looking at using the rear window washer location, since I removed the rear wiper. From what I gathered, this was years ago, the S2K was a great antenna candidate. IIRC, It's shorter, but has an amplifier.
