Rims Tires.

Just out of curiosity. Those of you GSL-SE guys that are running 15-16" rims, what kind of tires do you run? Are they good wet traction tires? Do any of you know of good "Rain" tires for winter months? I just got a set of Goodyear Integrity tires for my FB, mostly because my wife has credit with them and I couldn't afford good rubber at the moment. That and I plan on swapping out rear end and front suspension with a GSL-SE before next winter. However, I noticed tire rack has about 4 or 5 tire selections for 185/70/13s. So, I am looking into doing the suspension/rearend swap to allow for readily available 15" inch wheels and a decent selection of rubber, as well as the LSD on the GSL-SE rearend.

As always I appreciate all help!

i use 205/45/16 Dunlop sp sport w-10 tired on my GSL-SE and it handles great in rain or dry, but of course the rear end will still slide out in the rain if you push it. Don't even try using these tires in the snow though!! They will be horrible!
good thing about these tires is that they will never squeal, no matter what i've done they have never made a noise.

I have 195/50/r16 and 205/50/r16 on my 7. I had 205/50s
on all 4s but they rubbed on the front without wheel spacers.
They are Dunlop sport W10s. I hate that they dont sqeal, I cant
tell when the tires are spinning!

I'm running 205/55R16 Yokohama AVS Intermediates. Too big, but would be just right in a 15". They seem to be good in the rain, but I haven't even seen snow in 15 years (Oh, darn!)

On the TireRack website they show 2 15inch applications for 4 x 110 mm (non GSL-SE) bolt pattern. One of them is even the light as all get out Kosei K1.

This would allow you to just swap out the rear end for an LSD GSL unit, which has disc brakes. I am told that this is a lighter alternative to the GSL-SE swap.

For my very lightly modded 12A the GSL rear swap and high performance pads all the way round is more than adequate even at the Autocross. The LSD makes a HUGE difference in the ability to put down power out of the corners. It also has the added benefit of allowing powerslides around the corners…….this may not be the fastest way ‘round but it is more fun!

Hope my $.02 helps

Scott

PS. I love the Yokohama A509 in 205/60/13, for a stock rim fit these rule. (but they do wear out quickly)

PPS. the A509 was apparently replaced by the AVS intermediate
