revs n engine life

I have an 84 SE w/ 85k miles and only drive it once a week, if that. I read where arounf town low rev driving is actually bad for the engine due to carbon build up. Since I only drive it a few time a month is ther anything I should do to help maintain engine life? Namely while the car sits. When I do dive it I usually run the revs up to the high 6's a few times thru the gears and like to keep the car in 2nd or 3rd at around 5k rpm. Any thoughts on this would be helpful.
Thanks
John

sounds like you're good. if you aren't going to drive it for more than a couple weeks, make sure you at least start the motor once a week or so to keep it loose.
