The Revs I should be on???

Before i start my car so it is on accesorys or whatever it is called so the fule pump is going and all the battery lights and all that are on. The taco goes up to about 7 is that a good thing or not???, and when i start the car it goes to 1 and a half revs, what should it be?? or is it all good. and what is the average time you should let it warm up, ive been letting it idle for about 15 mins before driving, Only been driving it for 2 weeks though.

m8, for starters it depends on your cars setup as to what the rpm should be on idle. If its stock I'd say 1000rpm is good, if not lower. Let it warm up for 3-5 mins before driving it. Letting it sit there for 15mins is a waste of time and fuel. Your better off driving it nice and soft and letting it warm up that way. Don't take it over 3000rpm when cold. Get your timing checked and then you should be able to work out your idle. Make sure your running the right fuel mixture for your application. Theres so much to learn m8, starting searching

hebridge.

ps: search :P

Just to add to that, your tach is also you battery meter when the engine isnt running, thats why it said 7k rpm.

Mine doesn't do the tacho thing, I have a battery meter that works if the motor is running or not. As long as it isnt reving at 7k on startup she's right.
