Question reviving a 1st Gen from the amazing it starts and moves state

Well I bought the car for 800 dollars. it is a 1985 gs carb. 12a no l.s.d. auto trans. when i first got it...
i then proceeded to get alignment and new tires when on the ride home...my friend was driving because i dont have my license comepletely yet.... and he oversteered in a drift and crashed into the curb...not funny...n e wayz it broke the shock and bent the control arm. so i had full privelage of using hid garage . so i jacked it up on stands and went to work

for the car i ordered

-a manual transmission out of an 83 12a
-GMB Water pump (old one needed to be replaced)
-deep sump oil pan
-NGK Multi Fire Plugs
-NGK Wires
-high performance rotor/distributor cap
-Pace setter Monza Exhaust
-Racing Beat exhaust header
-Catco Converter
-control arms that were cut and customized with a hiem joint for adjustablitiy
-Tokico Illumina 5 way adjustable shocks all the way around
-energy suspension bushings
-New brakes/tires
-air/gas/oil filters
-Eibach springs
-i got a titanium sprayed center console piece because the old one was broken and grody
-if this matters royal purple oil

well i started disassembling the suspension now it is removed
my new control arms are a little different because instead of being allowed to move up and down they can now move freely so i need some sort of bushing i think. o yeah im only 16 and i ventured out into this project.my friend who crashed the car owns a sandblasting (his dad) shop so his pops sandblasted/aluminized my used racing beat headers and i high temp painted them white like the finish of the aluminum(it looks real clean on the engine)and i just got this installed tonight.o yeah what do i do about the tube that goes from the intake to the exhaust manifold? my exhaust was on there so good that i couldnt undo all the bolts and it is currently dangling stuck in between the axle and car(in the rear) i think i will saw through this...

questions
1.exhaust manifold hose to intake what do i do with it after the headers
2.has anyone swapped a manual into an auto before?
3.does anyon have any advice
4. i dont have a good wiring diagram and some of the wires have plugs that arent actually plugged into anything is this to make it possible to add other amneties(cruise control etc) or am i missing something
5.my headlights dont flip up....the button is broken but i dont think thats why they dont workit might be the motor or relay does anyone have trouble shooting advice
ill post more later but i am tired thanks everybody....

Ok: First of all, welcome to the forum. By your selection of parts, it sounds like you know what you're doing. I think you made some pretty good choices (might question the exhaust though Anyway, here's my best guesses

1. Did you buy the header new? It should come with two block-off plates, one for the side of the mani and one for the back of it. Follow the instructions and you should be ok. If you don't have them for some reason, then run a search for "racing beat header install", or something like that.
2. Yes, it has been done before. Again, the search button is your best friend. That will search all through the archives and pull up anything related to your search item. I'm sure there have been several threads on this subject already.
3. YES! You will find plenty of good advice here. These guys have helped me more than I can say. You might want to go in under "User C/P" and add a signature that includes all of the important details about your car. Just take a look at other posts and you will get the idea. Otherwise, people will always be asking you what you have.
4. There are some plugs that just aren't used. They were installed for diagnostics and such. You can find a good wiring diagram by following the related link in the FAQ section. You should check that area out anyway, lots of good info there.
5. For the headlights, check your fusible links first.

Good luck!

My question is how did you find paint hot enough to paint the header?? it gets hot anought to turn red as you wil soon find out. So unless you have some paint that will widthstand thousands of degrees you might want to take it off.

High temp paint at most parts stores. If your header is getting red hot, you want to adjust the carb/timing. It's either running too rich, or the timing is way retarded, or a combination. Exhaust temps don't normally get much above 1000 degrees.

"Exhaust temps don't normally get much above 1000 degrees" Wrong !!! Try CLOSER to 2000 F.

Hi temp paint will only stay on awhile. You'll see. A waste of money.

Some of us get red hot every time we drive it "with zest" ( zest = WOT like you just stole the bitch )

Don't others into thinking they can color match their headers. It ain't happening.
