Reverse lights

My series 2 rx7's reverse lights don't work any more. They used to work when i last checked them, which was 3months ago. It has an mx6 gearbox but i think gearboxes are all basically the same in relation to my problem. I've looked at the fuses, none are blown. I looked at the bulbs themselves and they were not blown either. Im thinking that the sensor in the gearbox is causing this problem. Could there be a wire off the sensor? could the sensor be stuffed. I had a look under the car to see if i could find what was going on. I found something that looked like sender unit at the back of the gearbox. It had 2 wires on it, they wern't connected to anything. Could this be the reverse sensor? How do fix this problem?

The sensors are notorious for going bad, just unplug it, and screw it out. Put an ohm meter on it, and see if it conducts with the ball pushed in, or out, i forget which. If you get nothing, it's the sensor. Make sure it's plugged in, it should be on the tailshaft, 2 wires.
