85 12A, racing beat header, racing beat exhaust system to rear, racing beat intake with holley carb. What kind of horsepower should I expect out of this? What sort of vehicles should I be able to "play" with? Oh yeah, as far as handling, the care will be equipped with a full racing beat suspension package.
A "friend" has an 85 supra, stock except for a cold air intake. He keeps bragging about wanting to race. How would the mazda compare?

I'd have a hard time seing an FB keep up with a MKII...the MKII's will run, if in good condition, upwards of 130mph and can get there with decent speed. Also they have lots of lowend torque and handle reasonably. You won't outrun him I wouldn't think, but if there's a good deal of turns where ever you guys race then you'll have an advantage. A more agile car is all you've got on him, and I'm not sure how agile an FB is. But I know how tough a MKII is...mine still runs hard.

85 Supras had 160 horsepower from an inline 6 cylinder 2.8L. But the Supra ways I'd say about 500 ibs more than the RX7 12A. I'd estimate you need at least 140 horses to play with an 85 Supra. I like both cars though.

the supra was well maintained when he got it, hehe I sold it to him :P
I know how the supras will run, just not sure how the fb's do yet. I got my fb and it only had one rotor making compression.
The engine I'm getting had the parts I listed. So I guess I'm going to be disappointed :[
maybe I should get rid of the RB header and find a turbo manifold for this ct-26 turbo I have lying around

log style manifold...make it yourself. Or you can flip the stock exhaust manifold over and make a flange that will bolt to it. The CT-26 is an easy turbo to work with, just make the flange to where, when the turbo's mounted, the compressor is easily directed to the front of the car. Plumb in an intercooler and then rout it to the intake...now getting it to fly with the carb would be a task...

ok Iam gong to guess close to 140-150 Hp with your mods.
The Supra should weigh around 3grand. WAY more than the FB. I think it would be pretty close in a drag race (he woiuld win though) \
But with the RB suspension, and decient tires he shouldent even be able to dream of keeping up with you in the twisties.
