Results of CP_RACING's 2nd gen brake conversion???

Does anyone have these on thier car? What do you think, better than stock, worth the effort? What actually came with the "kit"? I read "what you need to provide" and was left wandering what I'll actually get for my $375. Please any input before I shell out the $375 and start scrounging threw the yards for parts.

Talk to bouis on here. Here is an old thread about the brakes.

https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...ghlight=brakes

Unfortunatly, the pics no longer show up. Maybe you can pm him to find out more. It says he is online right now, but he doesn't seem to post in this section anymore for some reason. It seems that you don't get much for the money, but they may be worth it, though.

FWIW,its not going to make a huge difference unless you upgrade your tires too.
The bigger rotors will be more fade resistant and will require less pedal effort to stop the car,but in sheer distance to 0mph,its gonna be about the same as stock, provided your using the same tires before and after the swap.

Same Here - Finishing up the Haltech install 1st, then the
Brakes are going on. I already changed the rear to 5 lug.

Well, the car is up at CP now, getting her cancer removed, and the brakes installed.

I was originally going to do it myself, but since I had to take the car in for rust work anyways, it just made sense to have them do it.

However, I will be up at the shop ckecking progress, so I'll take pics and keep you guys up to date.

What I want to know is how do I put on the T2 brakes and keep the 4 lug bolt pattern and original offset?

Custom brake rotors, but I don't know if the 14" rims will clear the calipers. 2nd gens with 4 pot calipers had 15" and 16" rims.

If I was doing that kind of brake upgrade, I would want much larger tires to make use of the improved braking performance.

I have a gslse and would like to keep the bolt pattern. I am planning on running 16 inch wheels so I should be able to clear the brakes. Here are a coulple more questions:

If swapping to the 5 bolt pattern does the original offset stay the same?

What do you need to do to change the rear to 5 bolt pattern?

Do the stock brake lines hook to the new calipers?

thanks

if u swap to 5 lug, ur offset would be different i believe

to change rear into 5 lug, just get adapters.

the stock brake lines will still fit

on another note, if u want to keep ur 4x114.3, u can also do that

Hmm, thanks for that info. I know of a few companies in Australia that make a kit to bolt the second gen calipers on as well and the offset and bolt pattern stays the same but it costs quite a bit more than the cp kit so I am just weighing my options. I have just never like the idea of using adapers.

My suggestion is to go the CP webpage (www.cpracing.ca) click on the "support" link, and read the installation manual for the big brakes.

It should answer all your questions...

*** Update ***

Got my car back from CP the other day with my new TII Brakes installed.

Now THAT's some serious stopping power!

Since I have a GSL-SE with 4x114.3 I had to keep my bolt patern.

One thing to be aware of is the fact that the new system will sit a bit closer to the suspension than the stock brakes, so you'll have to be carefull when selecting rims.

Overall, a very noticeable impvrovement over stock.

I'll post more details and some pics when I get home...

my only concern would be that with such a light car, the brakes would be either on or off...there would be no middle ground. Is this the case?

Not at all. There is still a great deal of pedal control over the brakes. I found it feels almost stock under normal driving conditions. When you'll really notice the difference is under hard braking conditions.
