CA Restoring SA Side Trim

The rubber side trim on the sun side has peeled off and is now all hardened and twisted. (On the shade side it's okay!) Has anyone had any luck in bringing side trim back to life, or do I have to bite the bullet and buy new (at $150 for just the door trim).
