Restoration
I am about to begin what will probably be a futile effort to get mazda to put some Rx-7 parts back into production. I just made contact with Mazda USA yesterday. What I am looking for is a list of people that would be interested to back me up and perhaps pledge money to purchase parts once manufactured. I also need a list of parts that most people need, but cannot get their hands on, like dash boards, ac vents, sun visors and storage bin parts. etc. etc.

Dear D,
Thank you for contacting Mazda North American Operations. I appreciate
the opportunity to respond to you.
In regards to your inquiry, please note that, if parts are not
available through a Mazda dealership Parts department, then they are
not available through Mazda at all. We do not stock, sell, or
distribute any parts through this office or any other facility besides
a Mazda dealership. We do not manufacture parts for the RX-7 any longer
and will not be considering reinstituting their production in the
future.
For used and recycled parts, would suggest researching parts online.
You may wish to start with independent companies that specialize in
recycled Mazda parts. Examples of non-Mazda companies that deal with
used Mazda parts include www.mazdamart.com or www.mazdarecycling.com.
I hope that this information helps you.
Again, thank you for contacting Mazda. It has been my pleasure to
assist you.
Please take a moment to give us your opinion about our e-mail service.

Manufacturers typically sell their tooling to third party vendors after a car has been out of production for a few years to recoup costs. Mazda probably doesn't even have full control over what parts are available and what aren't.

to properly restore an fb you are looking at about a 6-10K parts bill.

The best way to get parts back into production is to talk to independent suppliers of parts. When I was into Corvairs a small one room operation - Clarks Corvair parts started to remanufature the hard to find parts. They either bought the tooling from GM or had someone copy an existing part. They are now a large organization with customers from all over.
FYI, here is a link to their website with a history of their business: http://www.corvair.com
Would Victoria British be interested in manufacturing more parts if they knew there was certain demand for them?

You don't know how good you have it. Compared to some other cars, RX-7 parts are cheap and readily available. So far the only RX-7 part I have had difficulty finding was a S3 bronze windshield which took over a month to locate and cost ~$400. I would like to see more improved aftermarket parts, for both 1st and 3rd generation RX-7s. (BTW, Just Dashes can restore the dash to better-than-new condition.)
