Update Time!

Ive sunk a few more hours into the FB as of the last few weeks and have been successful in getting it to run a bit better. Although I still have a few hurdles to overcome in order to get the car drivable.

Since my last post I have:

Replaced the waterpump, thermostat, and associated gaskets, wp housing sandblasted and painted
Installed a FMOC
Had the intake manifold decked off and helicoils installed for the carb studs
Repainted the pulleys and made some timing marks
Rebuilt the carb
Rebuilt the clutch master and slave
Made some new blockoff plates and performed a general cleanup in the engine bay, now it doesn't look like a 5yr old put the car together!

The most pressing issue right now is the carb. I can't seem to get the float needles to seat properly and subsequently the carb is literally dumping fuel into the engine. The floats are at factory settings and I'm getting a steady 3psi of fuel pressure. I'm told there is a trick to get the needles to seat, anyone care to enlighten me?

Here are a few fresh pictures I snapped, havent done much to the exterior but I think you'll all agree the engine bay is much improved.

Thanks in advance for any advice!

Give the top of the carb over each fuel bowl a few good taps with a plastic screwdriver handle or plastic hammer. Or just take the top off and work the floats in and out a few times. There's a finish on them that will get worn down over time, that's what is usually hanging the floats up. nice to hear you got her closer to streetable.

Engine bay does look much better, well done. New needles rend to hang up and not fully seat. Pull them back out and burnish the sides of them on a pair of worn jeans. The machining can leave just enough texture on them that they will tend to hang up in their bores and not fully seat. Tapping on the banjo bolts where the fuel lines mate to the carb can also loosen up the needle valves allowing them to seat.

Nice score with the old school 13B. Imho, all of the 7's should have come with them.

LOL @ Whitey... Hecubus is Evan, the guy with the black TII that was drooling over the other 2nd gen's wheels/tires. He was also the only rotorhead to actually bring a girl to the event (the nerve of some people).
