Replacing vacum lines, broke a piece! uh oh!

I'm putting blue vacum hoses in my gsl-se.

On the rats next, the front little pod thing, there is the curvey hose that comes out the top, and a really short 90 degree bend that comes out the inside bottom. Well i broke off the connector getting the stock one off. Do i need to worry about this???? Will my engine blow up if i dont fix it? Its a little plastic piece, its stuck inside the stock tube.

Thanks in advance,
Geoff

EDIT: I think the pod is called the "vacum control solenoid valve"

(yes i know i'm spelling vacum wrong, too lazy to spell it right)

Yeah, however you can properly fit it back together and get the hose on with a good seal. If you epoxy or glue it back on, just make sure you have a good seal and the hose fits snugly over it.

Or.. like Damon says...find a spare part and use it.

I totally sympathize with you. I spent the winter redoing all the hoses on my 89 TII and it was a bitch.

Cut the hoses off (one at a time of course), and if you find a particular hose giving you grief...take a break...frustration in my experience brakes more parts than anything.

btw, love the blue.

Well, until i get it fixed, what can i do to make it so i can drive my car?

Its broke for good. there is no way that glue is holding. Its the strongest super glue stuff the hobby store had, w/ a fast dry spray that makes it even stronger. And it snaps right off.

So, can i maybe just put the one hose from one to the other, or is that a no? or just not drive my car???

Or how about just removing the rats nest, maybe that would get rid of this piece for good? I'll have to do some serious research for it thos.

Ok..instead of gluing the plastic nipple back on, can you shove the smallest hose (4mm) inside the hole, and then seal it with some plumbers goop. Not a clean solution...but just an idea..

The 2nd pic you posted is kinda tough to see.

yeah im going with forseti, see if you can find some copper tubing (you mentioned hobby store earlier) and see if you can jam it in the hole for the nub that broke off, Now the hose itself will have a bigger hole than the tube, so what i did (this happened to me too a while back) was wrap the tube in electrical tape, so that the outside diameter was bigger. it stayed for a good long time. . . . . . . . . untill i removed my rats nest that is.

nah, there seems to be no way to do that....
inside the nipple there is this cone shaped rubber piece, seems to be acting as a block of some sort (to only allow air in i'm guessing).

UPTDATE:

I turned on the car. It has a 4k rpm cold idle, and it bounces between 1.5k and 2k, not a smooth bounch, like its giving gas and then letting off entirely. Apart from idle, there seems to be no driving malfunctions or anytyhing.

Well, I would get some 5 minute epoxy and carefully glue it back on. If the epoxy doesn't hold you'll have to get a new solenoid.

BTW, if it's that glass filled type plastic like kelron, regular super glue won't hold it. You will need the thick type of super glue or just go with the epoxy method. glass filled plastic tends to absorb the regular type of super glue and not give a good bond.

You could look into getting a little brass fitting that will screw into the hole, and have a nipple like the one that broke off. You would probably have to clean the hole up first with a small file and possible a drill. Very carefully!

Geoff when I mail your sub box, Ill put a rats nest from a 85 in there... Just pick the one you want. The solenoids are basically the same, only difference is they turn some of them around . etc
