Replacing the Engine

I was interested in buying one of those 12A engines off of corksport for my 1982 FB. But it says down at the bottom of the page that all engines come as fuel injected, while my car is carburated. Anyone know what would be involved in either switching my car to fuel injection, or switching the engine to carburation. Would I need a new ECU in order to handle the engine. And how much would all the extra parts cost?

seeing as it's a 12A, I would THINK you could just take your 12A intake/carb and go with that, but I'd ask around just to make absolutely sure. And doing the engine swap isn't very hard at all, as long as you MARK EVERYTHING where it goes.

****, Id rather keep the fuel injection if it was feasible. No more choke!

Anyone know for sure.... I might be interested in the fuel injection set up

There were only two versions of the fuel injected 12A: 6-port 12A or the 12A Turbo. Your stock carb/manifold wouldn't fit the 6-port (think of it as a 12A version of the GSL-SE engine) and it would suck on the low-compression Turbo.

I wasn't even aware CS *had* 12A engines, thought the oldest they sold was '86-88 T2 engines. If they have 12A's I'm gonna have to check 'em out!

it looks like CS has Jspec turbo 12a's for $950! That would be cool!

THey say they can get the computer too!

hmmm...........thinking upgrade? anyone?

BTW: if all they have are turbo 12a's you would not want to unbolt everything from one and run it NA. These motors have low compression rotors and would be seriously lacking in pwer without the turbo. and for way less than $950 you should be able to find a used running 12a.

just my $.02::p
