Replacement rubber sleeves for the fuel injector connectors?

GSL-SE

I cut the old ones to get them off the connectors. I didn't anticipate new connectors coming without them. Can these be bought? Do I even need them? Why aren't connectors/wires just wrapped in regular electrical tape like all other wiring on the car? Do fuel injector connectors need some kind of heavy duty insulation or something?

the connectors on the SE's injector pugs are exposed. the connectors are tan in color. the wires are wrapped in a gray sleeve with orange tape. i can tell you that often times the sleeve dry rots. when this happens, i usually re-wrap the wires with 3M's supper 33+ electrical tape and then i will loom over the super 33 wrapped wires. the part that i try and save is the flexible rubber boot that butts up to the conector. they usually split on one the underside. i always clean it well and toss a bead of super 33 around it as well just to make sure its properly insulated.

Yeah, it's the rubber boot I'm trying to find replacement for. Do you know why the boots are there, instead of just regular insulation?

Maybe I can just re-wrap the whole thing in electrical tape and be fine?

You can replace the connectors entirely. The late model Ford Bosch clips have the same center lug that matches the SE injectors. I solder the joints with fluxless solder and then cover them with a high quality weather proof, self sealing heat shrink tubing.

I have new connectors already. I'll try insulating with heat-shrink and some electrical tape.
